The Asiatic class of chickens primarily originated in China and other Asian countries.
The class consists of large, heavy, and docile breeds. Characterized by feathered legs, small combs, and a gentle temperament, these birds are popular for their broodiness, meat production, and suitability as pets. They tend to have large, massive bodies with a heavy bone structure. They are extremely docile and friendly. They lay brown eggs and often go broody, making them excellent mothers. They were originally developed as a meat bird, although today they are mostly used for exhibition and as pets. They tolerate cold weather well, but do not thrive well in hot climates due to their dense feathering.
