Unclassified Standard Chicken Breed Class

These breeds are standard breeds, but have not been admitted to the American Poultry Association Standard. The APA will not allow these breeds to be shown at APA sanctioned poultry exhibitions. Some of these have been accepted by Poultry Associations in other countries. Here is a partial list of fairly well known breeds that have not been admitted to the APA standard:

Breed Description
Castilians High production of large white eggs and rustic ability to forage in Mediterranean climates.
Egyptian Fayoumis Known for being an ancient, hardy, and exceptionally disease-resistant breed that is highly adapted to hot climates.
Indian Giant The tallest chicken in the world.
Jungle fowl The original wild, vibrant-plumaged ancestor of the modern domestic chickens.
Onagadori Japanese ornamental breed with exceptionally long, non-molting tail feathers that can grow continuously to lengths exceeding 20 feet.
Saipan Known for their exceptionally large, tall, muscular, upright appearance, with roosters able to stand two to three feet tall.
Vorwerk Striking black-and-gold plumage, excellent foraging abilities, and consistent production of light brown eggs.
